Musical course details and learning outcomes
Age group: 5–7 years old
Level: Beginner / foundational
Format: Group classes
Location: Shine School of Music, Barcelona
Instruments explored: Piano, ukulele, drums, percussion, and others
Students are introduced to the core elements of music in a way that is accessible and meaningful for their age.
Rhythm and pulse are explored through movement, clapping, percussion instruments, and group exercises. Children develop a sense of steady beat, tempo, and basic rhythmic patterns, which form the basis of all musical learning.
Pitch and melody are introduced through singing, listening activities, and simple melodic exercises. Children learn to distinguish between high and low sounds and begin to recognize how notes relate to one another.
Introduction to music reading focuses on early note recognition and basic musical symbols. Visual and interactive methods are used to help children understand the relationship between written music and sound, without pressure or excessive theory.
Instrument exploration allows children to experience a variety of instruments, such as piano, ukulele, drums, and classroom percussion. This broad exposure helps students develop coordination, listening skills, and an informed sense of which instrument they may wish to pursue in the future.
Alongside these elements, creativity and expression are encouraged through improvisation, group playing, and musical storytelling, supporting both musical and personal development.
